anyone scared of dentist

been to the dreaded dentist for some fillings a descale. i have been a nervous wreck since yesterday. mind you he is nice and only looks old enough to be my son but he is always makes sure everything is numb even gave me seconds. he knows i had a bad experience and have a fear of him drilling still being able to feel it.

Its 2008, we can do heart transplants, but isn't dentistry still privative?

i'm lucky i've got a nhs one, mind you alot of people might have probs again as the licences given last time run out.

i really dont like the dentist, i also hate having my eyes tested too

i don't mind until they blow air in to your eyes then that's it for me.

some dentists now employ beauty therapists so that they can be performing a relaxing hand or foot massage whilst you're having work done. It is meant to relax you and help take your mind off things, but from what I can gather, this is only happening in the bigger cities and is not in lincoln yet

i don't like dentists,doctors ,hospitals etc.
but dentist no way not until i'm really in pain, they have to knock me out as i have a gagging reaction that makes me throw up when anything is in my mouth,without chewing or swallowing .
only go to doctors when really need to as well

I don't dread Dentists but haven't been for 10 years or so. Can't afford it.

After I get rid of all my debts I shall get the children regularly sorted out though.

No teeth, so don't have to go any more. Used to be terrified and always had valium, except when I had to have a wisdom tooth out and was expecting Coley1, they wouldn't let me have valium and I had to have 6 injections!!

i go to the ones on west parade and they are great. but after a bad experience. when i was expecting i had both wisdo teeth out and i had no problems but i went to the dentist on the strait there and he butchhered me ripping two teeth out i was in a state blood al up my face and he let me walk out inthe street in a state of shock. he caused a an abcess and the only way he said to relieve the pain was to remove the teeth. another dentist said i should have had antibiotics. then i went to birchwood and was having a filling he started to drill and the apin was terrible so i grabbed his hands and he asked me what i was whinging at. when i said he was hurting me he said if he does it again and it hurts then he would have to rip the tooth out so told him to put a filling in and saw another dentist and he said that even if it was if he had numbed me up enough it wouldn't hurt me anyway. i also did 1 visit to the one on newland, all smiles and it wasn't the dentist that was a problem. i took my son and he had a bad hypo because they were runnnig late so i passed him a sandwich to keep him going and the receptionist told me to take it off him when i explained to her what the problem she was more concerned about making the carpet mucky, when i complained to higher beings they said why bring kids like him with me. they were from abroad. so may not have had to deal with disabilities but in this country they had rights so didn't go there again.

I also hate the dentist! but i go as you only get one set of teeth.
Coley1 you are possibly entitled to free dental treatment on the nhs if you are claiming working tax credits or similar benefit?
We go to the oasis dentist situated behind the carlton centre its an nhs one and they are very good they know how terrifed i am so are always trying to reassure and telling and showing me what they are going to do before they do anything, i have had lots of work done in previous years and for the first time evr on my last check up they said i needed no fillings.

so i would advise anyone that does not go due to fear to beat there fear as you will never have another set of real teeth again!

I second that. I have to glue mine in or I can't eat!! However, I must say that my problems started when I was 11 and had to go into Whitechapel Hospital, London to have two wisdom and 4 teeth that wouldn't fit my mouth dug out under general anaesthetic. Then numerous trips to Harley Street (on the NHS) with braces etc. so it wasn't lack of treatment but other problems that caused me to have mine out. Some people have good teeth, some don't. My daughter's are absolutely perfect (she is 31) and she never has to have anything done, apart from having a wisdom tooth out on her last visit. As her teeth are so good her dentist has put her on a child's plan so she doesn't have to pay much! Hubby has all his too.

Just to cheer everyone up, I am reminded of a song we used to sing (I had my teeth out a few weeks before my hysterectomy so I felt a bit like this):
