Cannabis law change 'illogical'
The reclassification of cannabis as a Class B drug has come into effect in England and Wales amid complaints the new laws are "illogical".
Ministers went against their advisors to upgrade the drug because of worries about its impact on mental health.
Magistrates welcomed the reclassification but said planned fines for possessing small amounts undermined the more serious classification.

Re: Cannabis law change 'illogical'
ok my hubbie would say its a less important drug (which in one way i can see), but its how it starts kids and adults start thinking i wonder what thats like and i havent tried that and before you know it they crept up slowely to the harder stuff and completely addicted , so no i think at the end of day its a drug and shud be treated as important as higher drugs (a drug is a drug!)

A close friend used cannabis for pain management after major surgery and found it enormously beneficial. No question of progression to other drugs and they stopped using it when recovered. It was considered to be the lesser of two evils. The other being synthetic analgesics.

Re: Cannabis law change 'illogical'
a drug is a drug, hmm
isnt tobacco a drug, and alcohol - this is CLASS based discrimination, the law makers can get pi**ed out of their heads on a regular bases and end up a burden on the nhs, but if anyone wants a joint (or use a bong if they wish to avoid using tobacco) its illegal!
reclassifying it as B is a joke, its still treated as C, due to the "warnings", you dont even risk court till they catch u 3rd time
the reclassifying it is just to humour those who shout loudest, it wont make any change to use!

fortunately we live in (the illusion of) a democracy and any political party suggesting banning alcohol wont get votes, we will see tobacco outlawed in out lifetimes!
imho they should tax fat and sugar, only allow a small amount of this in foods, anything more - you pay large tax. it can be worked around already, i use a sugar alternative that tastes great, and is cheap! the idea needs some work, but could work.

Re: Cannabis law change 'illogical'
at the end of the day its all down to personal choice, i hate alcohol and actually have a bit of a phobia of it (strange i know) i moke like a trouper but thats my choice, if i want to eat fat or sugar thats my choice too, there are too many things that we are told we can/cant do, i earn my money and spend it on my tobacco as my choice, i choose to smoke, if it were made illegal then i would still do it, as im sure changing the class of canibis isnt stopping people smoking it if you get caught its a slap on the wrist and possibly put on a record! dont think thats enough to stop people using it.

and the bad news is - when its made illegal the sale and even cultivation of tobacco becomes illegal too, although cigarettes will go underground and youll be buying your expensive cigs, containing even more dangerous chemicals than they already do, from drug dealers!
Re: Cannabis law change 'illogical'
what is wrong with the bloody world today, you cant do anything without being told you soon wont be able too, how much revenue will the goverment lose out on if they stop selling fags, they make a bloody fortune off me and the majority of country!!

cigs used to float the NHS, but now cost £millions a year instead! blair made cannabis a class C drug, looking towards legalisation, but too many right wingers complained and its B again, ppl seem to fail to understand that legalisation doenst mean you HAVE to use it! Im all for freedom of choice!
Re: Cannabis law change 'illogical'
here here!! im an adult i smoke of my own free will, i know the dangers but use my choice off my own back, thought this was a free country!

freedom is the illusion they want to give, just try to stand as an mp, see how much itll cost you!
Re: Cannabis law change 'illogical'
its like this new thing of putting fags under the counter like thats gonna deter smokers, as if? how ridiculous that someone addicted to niccotine is gonna stop smoking just because the fags are under the counter, i dont understand the logic, had a bit of a moan in my local shop cos they no longer give cash back when you buy fags you have to have bought something else in the shop but yet you can get cash back on alcohol, wheres the logic in that? so its ok to get bladdered but not to smoke, stupid rules! i hate this country and as soon as i come into money were out, anywhere but britain!! i here polands nice!

Re: Cannabis law change 'illogical'
the harder to by fags u make it, the more kids will wanna try them
Re: Cannabis law change 'illogical'
of course its just making them a big tabboo, and exciting, i remeber sitting outside a shop as a kid waiting for someone to come along to buy me alcohol and the same again with fags, so thats all that will happen, ive been approached several times by kids asking me to buy fags, i never have i always say im in rush, but theres always people that will, so the whole under the counter thing isnt gonna do a thing, at all!!
