A proposed £116m route for an eastern bypass around Lincoln has been approved by county councillors.

The council's executive committee supported the route which will link the A158 Wragby Road to the north with the A15 at Washingborough Road.

The route will now go before planning hearings at North Kesteven District Council and Lincoln City Council.

Councillors back new bypass route Empty Re: Councillors back new bypass route

Question:When is a bypass not a bypass?
Ans:A bypass ceases to be when you build upto it i.e it no longer bypasses any thing!
It's an old trick to release green belt land for building and the Highways Authority generally and actively discourage it.(They usually fail).
If you travel to Nottingham at all have a quick detour to Bingham down their 'bypass' which carries the A52 to Grantham. Its not that old and its already looking like it needs a bypass.A bypass for a bypass!
Usually the argument is that the sale of land for housing will help pay to relieve congestion in your town/city but loss of green belt land is a hell of a price to pay.
Far better to 'manage' the traffic going into the City.
Finally, one of John Prescotts many gaffs whilst in office was ,'of course the Labour Party has green credentials. We invented the term 'green belt' and we intend to build on it'.!!!!
