Parents complain that disabled TV presenter is 'scaring children'
DOZENS of parents have complained to the BBC that a disabled television presenter is scaring their children.
Cerrie Burnell, who was born with one arm, and co-presenter Alex Winters took over the popular Do and Discover slot and The Bedtime Hour programme on the CBeebies channel last month.
But the decision to hire her has prompted a disturbing campaign which has become so vicious that some comments on the BBC message boards have had to be removed.

thats disgusting behaviour ,some people can be so cruel, all the parents have to do is sit down and explain to the kids why she only as one arm, thats what i use to do when my kids met anyone who was different in any way.

I am proud and pleased to say that my kids (11, 9, 7 and 3) haven't even questioned Cerrie's 'difference' but have accepted her for the lovely tv host that she is

My 3 year old son Patrick said That lady's got no hands. He seems to have an 'all or nothing' outlook with his speech.
He then said where's that lady's hands gone to which I replied she's lost her hand. That seemed to settle the matter. Not heard another mention of it
Some people are just idiots and will complain about anything. Hopefully the BBC will pass the petition onto the discrimation boards who can then prosecute the whole lot in a single discrimnation case (saving money on many individual ones) and then pass all the money onto the government to reduce taxes
One father said he would ban his daughter from watching the channel because he thought it would "give her nightmares".
One Father thought!!! What did the child say?
I do agree that the BBC seem to 'favour' minorities on the children's programs though. there aren't many 'natives' on there. lol
I do think this girl has been given the 'politically correct' chance though because she isn't very good She has that old fashioned 'talk to the child like they're idiots and easily frightened by noise' tone in her voice whereas the others talk quite normally.
Justin is the best on there althuogh I do have a 'soft' spot for Sarah Jane

Re: Parents complain that disabled TV presenter is 'scaring children'
storm and myself where surprised to see her as a presenter, but in a good way! special needs/disability is all about integration wherever possible now, and having her as a presenter will teach small children that "it takes all kinds of ppl to make a world" and "that could have been you, or me".
yes, justin is very good, emma loves mr tumble, and sarah-jane is just..... and its great they teach MAKATON too
and scary? thats just pathetic!

no doubt complaining about them etc is discriminating and an "ism"
Re: Parents complain that disabled TV presenter is 'scaring children'
PARENTS who complained about a one-armed childrens' TV presenter will have their own very special corner of Hell, Satan confirmed last night.
